What Cloud is it?
[fusion_dropcap boxed=”no” boxed_radius=”” class=”” id=”” color=””]P[/fusion_dropcap]ublic? Private? Hybrid? What cloud is it? A lot has been written, mostly by sales and marketing folks, trying to define and distinguish between off-site and on-site deployment models. The pundits and peddlers trying to whip up interest in new and old products have applied the “cloud” label to all manner of things, many of which aren’t cloudy at all. Let’s set the record straight about the Real Quantum cloud platform.
There are three types of cloud sharing models to choose from:
Public cloud
– this one is based on a shared set of resources without any logical or physical barriers where tenants share resources side by side without knowing it.
Private cloud
– this model provides dedicated resources for each tenant with no sharing at the logical level; sharing through virtualization at the physical level is an option to reduce cost, but a classic definition of private cloud means the physical hardware is not shared.
Hybrid cloud
– put simply, a combination of Public Cloud and Private Cloud based on the needs of the intended solution
To clarify our position and message for our customers and competitors, our product is 100% cloud. Period. But what kind of cloud product is it? Well, there is another set of terminology choices:
IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service)
– computing, storage, and services available from some semi-random, inscrutable cloud provider data center(s) that is managed by its tenant
PaaS (Platform as a Service)
– solution components and services running on infrastructure sized and maintained as necessary by the cloud provider where and how they see fit
SaaS (Software as a Service)
– a complete, turnkey solution a user can rent and use without a thought for its operational details
Here’s how the different cloud deployment models relate. Notice that SaaS is built on PaaS, and PaaS is built on IaaS. It’s a generalization, but it works for visualizing how the three models relate.
So, for realquantum, what cloud is it that we offer? In fact, realquantum involves all three. Here’s how.
realquantum uses IaaS to provide the platform for customer computing and storage. Specific servers and performance levels will be deployed and maintained by realquantum personnel.
realquantum uses PaaS for key components such as performance monitoring, identity management, security, and analytics.
realquantum is offered to customers as a SaaS product. Customer subscribe to the product, and RQ will take care of all the hosting and operating details.
But what’s the simple, final answer we provide to customers when we talk about realquantum?
realquantum is a 100% SaaS, pure cloud product for complete commercial real estate appraisal.
